One of the few times the episode name uses "D'oh" rather than "annoyed grunt" to stand in for the same sound, ("annoyed grunt" being the original catalyst for the improvised "D'oh" from the script.)
Bart and Milhouse make reference to Tomokazu Ohka of the Montreal Expos and Esteban Yan of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Both boys are referencing the relative obscurity of the two pitchers and franchises. A year later, the Expos relocated to Washington, D.C. and would rebrand as the Washington Nationals, while the Tampa Bay Devil Rays would rebrand as the Tampa Bay Rays four years later. Yan played in the majors until the 2006 season as a member of the Cincinnati Reds, while Ohka finished his career with the Cleveland Indians in 2009.
The title refers to the "C.E.O." or the chief executive officer of a company.
The middle name of Canary M. Burns has never been revealed.
