- While fleeing from the jaws of dinosaurs, the Marshalls and the Pakuni are forced to work together.
- Rick, Will and Holly's attempt to teach Dopey how to be a work animal is an abject failure. As such, they let Dopey go, hoping that he will return to his family as they are having problems feeding him. Meanwhile, they decide to harvest some of the giant carrots and turnips as their next meal. But what they harvest goes missing. They quickly find out that the Pakuni have been stealing the vegetables. Before they can deal with Ta, Sa and Cha-Ka about the vegetables, they are confronted by Grumpy. The Marshalls and the Pakuni have to work together if they have any chance of escaping from Grumpy. Beyond the difficulty in communicating with the Pakuni, the Marshalls find the task is even more difficult in the fact of a female allosaur entering the scene. If they get out of this situation, the Marshalls and Pakuni, from the experience, may learn truly how to work together. Meanwhile, Dopey shows that he has a mind of his own.—Huggo
- The Marshalls, armed with handmade spears, are finding that the infant Apatosaur Dopey simply isn't reliable enough as the beast of burden pulling their wooden cart for food. After one too many stops to munch on stray foliage, Dopey is "fired" by Rick, so he goes on his way. Rick and his two headstrong children Will and Holly thus push their cart to a garden where vegetables grow to gigantic size. They dig up a carrot, this despite Holly's distaste for carrots, then proceed down a hill to dig up an outsize turnip. But when they return they see their food is gone so they decide to get another turnip.
When they return again they see the Pakuni trying to abscond with their turnip. The Pakuni flee with the Marshalls in pursuit - neither party as yet aware that the baby Apatosaur Dopey, munching contentedly on foliage, accidentally bites the toe of the land's ruling Tyrannosaur Grumpy, who takes umbrage and a chase ensues.
The Pakuni trip on themselves and are cornered by the Marshalls, but their standoff is interrupted by the fleeing Dopey, and then all run like hell when Grumpy appears and goes after them instead. At a fork in the jungle pathway the Marshalls, with Cha-Ka still with them, race further inland while Ta and Sa, the other Pakuni, are running along a path straddling the land's mammoth swamp area. Grumpy growls in frustration unable to decide which way to pursue, until Cha-Ka spots his fellow Pakuni and runs across Grumpy's bow to join them.
With the Tyrannosaur in pursuit of the Pakuni, Holly rashly goes after Grumpy, with a reluctant Will following. Grumpy spots the two Marshall siblings and pursues them, until Cha-Ka races to distract Grumpy, and the chase flip-flops again, now with Cha-Ka pursued by Grumpy. Holly and Will decide to try and lead Grumpy to a steep crevice further inland, with the battle cry, "Tag Grumpy! You're It!" When Cha-Ka trips and falls, Grumpy stoops down to devour him until speared in the leg by Will; the Tyrannosaur shakes off the spear and pursues the three of them, with Rick forced to rendezvous with Ta and Sa to try and get their flesh and blood out of this jam.
Will, Holly, and Cha-Ka reach the crevice, splitting up at a fork in the path and confusing Grumpy with taunts, but now they've bitten off even more when appearing on the other side of the crevice is the outsized Allosaur Big Alice, defending her turf. Grumpy, pursuing the Marshall siblings and Cha-Ka as well as challenging his enemy, corners them as they run into a crack in the cliffside, sliding some thirty feet onto a small ledge. Now Will, Holly, and Cha-Ka are stuck beneath the feet of Grumpy as he growls across the crevice at the obstreperous Allosaur, and Rick must try to convince Ta and Sa to distract Grumpy away from the cliff so he can use a rope he has to pull everyone to safety - and must try the risky rescue even if Ta and Sa cannot understand what he's doing.
