During the recording of this episode, Scott McNeil was attempting to deliver Dinobot's last words, but was continually interrupted by laughter from the recording crew. He is reported to have said (while still in character) "Do you mind? I'm trying to die here!"
Given the overwhelmingly positive feedback it received, it is not uncommon for fans to cite this episode as the best Transformers cartoon episode ever to be made. It contributed a great deal to Dinobot's popularity, which resulted in the fans voting him a place in the "Transformers Hall of Fame". He was the only Beast Wars character to be featured in the hall's first year (other were added later), but even so, he beat other long-time, big name fan favorites such as Soundwave, Grimlock or Devastator.
The series' co-story editor Bob Forward drew storyboards for this episode and collaborated with the animators to make the scenes impact well. This episode is thus the only one in the series to be directed by the series' writers, as well as the only episode to be storyboarded.
Dinobot's final words were taken from William Shakespeare's plays "Othello" (the first two sentences) and "Hamlet" (the last sentence). These words are, somewhat appropriately, the last spoken by Othello and Hamlet.
Given Dinobot's long history of dislikable banter with Rattrap, it seems ironic (or perhaps fitting) that when Dinobot's spark leaves his body, Rattrap is the first to salute it.
