The Library: Mrs. Holler, the school's crazed librarian, refuses to let Ned and Cookie check out a book on Abraham Lincoln, because they haven't returned their overdue library books. Moze tries to befriend Mary Belle who has checked out the last library book on Abraham Lincoln. Ned and Cookie work with Gordy to stop Loomer and his cronies, who have stolen overdue library books from their classmates. Ned and his friends are able to recover the lost overdue library books, both Ned and Cookie check out books on Abraham Lincoln. Mrs. Holler tortures Boomer and his cronies with her accordion. Volunteering: Ned, Moze, and Cookie are assigned to do volunteer work by Mr. Wright. Ned must tend to an elderly lady named June at a nursing home, but he decides to take June out to have some real fun. Moze must work with Loomer and his cronies to fix the back enterance. Moze berates Loomer and his cronies for their incompetence and for starting a paint war with each other. Buzz convinces his friends that they should work with Moze to clean up the back entrance. Cookie works with Evelyn at the student store, they get into a petty competition on how to run the student store. Both Evelyn and Cookie give away discounts, even though they sold everything, Mr. Wright reprimands them for not working together and for throwing off discounts. Cookie and Evelyn are forced to work together as punishment for competing with each other.
