This news doesn't come as a surprise. CBS has pulled their new Saturday night drama, The Bridge, after just three episodes. Though it's been cancelled in the Us, the TV show will continue.
The Bridge follows Frank Leo (Aaron Douglas), a charismatic cop who's voted unanimously to become the leader of the police union. He ends up fighting crime on the streets while also battling corruption on the force. The series features Douglas, Frank Cassini, Michael Murphy, Ona Grauer, Paul Popowich, and Theresa Joy.
The TV show debuted on Saturday, July 10th with two episodes. Per the overnights, the first episode attracted a tiny 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 2.98 million viewers. It was easily beaten by repeats of Cops and America's Funniest Home Videos.

Everybody, it's time to say goodbye to 'The Bridge.' Wait, what do you mean you weren't one of the 2.8 million viewers watching the Canadian import that aired Saturdays on CBS?
Vulture is reporting the low-rated cop drama has gotten the boot from CBS after just three episodes. Its replacement? Repeats of CBS's canceled crime procedural 'Cold Case.'
Aaron Douglas, Chief Tyrol to 'Battlestar Galactica' fans, headlined 'The Bridge,' a series about a police union head cleaning up the corrupt force.

Aaron Douglas has claimed that his character on The Bridge has a "skewed" sense of morality. Douglas plays Frank Leo, a police officer who is elected as the new union leader. Speaking to TV Guide, the actor compared his character to Tony Soprano, adding: "Frank runs the police union like a gang and rules with an iron fist. "He has a sense of morality about him, although it's a little skewed. You're either going to love this guy or think he's (more)...

There's a new cop show on the TV lineup. The Canadian drama The Bridge (Saturday, 8/7c, CBS) premiered July 10 and introduced viewers to Frank Leo, a dedicated beat officer who is fed up with the corrupt police brass. He takes action by getting elected union leader, making him some powerful new enemies who have already proven they'll go to great lengths to bring him down.
But it's nothing Frank can't handle, according to the guy who plays him: Aaron Douglas, who likens the character to Tony Soprano...

Chicago – CBS found success with the Canadian import “Flashpoint” in 2008 and they’ve opened international trading routes again in an attempt to replicate it with the dark cop drama “The Bridge,” debuting tonight, July 10th, 2010 at 7pm Cst. It’s a better show than “Flashpoint” that still suffers from a weak supporting cast and cliched dialogue, but its flaws are not deep enough to dissuade viewers in a season when there’s not a lot of competition.
TV Rating: 3.0/5.0
“The Bridge” is one of those cop shows where the drama within the police department is more of the focus than crime on the street not unlike “The Shield” or “The Wire” (although this show isn’t nearly as sophisticated as either of those modern classics). Internal investigations, power struggles, police unions, corrupt cops — “The Bridge” wants you to care about the men (and women) with the badges more than the...

Last time we saw Aaron Douglas, he was walking off into the unknown as Chief Tyrol on 'Battlestar Galactica.' We may have thought that the Canadian actor disappeared, but he's been working -- a lot, by the sounds of it -- on 'The Bridge,' where he plays cop-turned-union-leader Frank Leo.
Just in case you haven't seen the promotional ad (which was played mercilessly throughout the 2010 Olympics), 'The Bridge' follows a young, troubled cop who grows more and more disillusioned with the corrupt police force. As he tries to right the wrongs going on around him, Leo becomes enmeshed in the complications of power. Executive-produced by Craig Bromell (who served as president of the Metro Toronto Police Association from 1997-2003), and set on the streets of Toronto, 'The Bridge' is a raw look behind the Blue Curtain.

As it revealed its 2010 fall primetime line-up essentially constituted of American TV series and reality shows (shame!), CTV, a Canadian private TV network, announced that it will renew its five original TV series for another season. As a matter of fact, the crime TV series The Bridge will get a second season.
The TV series is based on the experience of Craig Bromell, the controversial former head of the Toronto Police’s union. We follow Frank Leo (Aaron Douglas), a street cop, is elected by his colleagues as the head of the police union. As he fights criminals, Frank tries to eliminate the corruption within the Toronto police department from top to bottom. He does that in order to protect his colleagues and the society.
The show also star Paul Popowich, Inga Cadranel,Genadijs Dolganovs, Frank Cassini, Theresa Joy, Ona Grauer and Michael Murphy.

After a Canadian premiere on the TV network CTV, the Canadian TV series The Bridge will finally arrive in the USA. In fact, the show will premiere July 10 on CBS, an American TV network, at 8 Pm.
The TV series is loosely based on the experience of Craig Bromell, the former head of the Toronto Police union. We follow Frank Leo (Aaron Douglas), a street cop who is tired to see that the union's bark is worse than its bite while facing "the brass". Because his colleague finds him charismatic and that he organized a massive walk-out, Frank is elected as the head of the police's union.
As a head of the union, Frank promises that the union will always be there for the cops and that the whole police force will be cleaned from the top to the bottom. In his quest, Frank will be helped by Abby St-James (Ona Grauer), a beautiful lawyer,...

"Big Brother" will be relocating, at least for one night a week, when it returns for its 12th edition in the summer.
CBS has announced premiere dates for several summer shows, including the return of "Flashpoint" to Friday nights and another Canadian import, "The Bridge," which will air on Saturday starting in July. The network is also burning off the remaining episodes of "Three Rivers" in June -- which, combined with The CW's airing of "Moonlight," will make for an Alex O'Loughlin-filled summer.
"Big Brother" is set to premiere Thursday, July 8. Instead of its usual Tuesday-Thursday-Sunday schedule, the show will air on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Live evictions will still take place in the Thursday episodes. Sunday episodes start July 11 and Wednesday episodes July 14.
"Flashpoint" will begin its third season on CBS at 9 p.m Et Friday, June 4 (Season 3 aired in Canada last fall). It moves back to 10 p.

Although The Bridge was supposed to be simulcasted on CTV (in Canada) and CBS (in the USA), CTV decided to go on its own. As a result of that, this one-hour drama will have a two-hour premiere after the Vancouver Olympic Games on March 5, 2010 at 9 Pm. Afterwards, The Bridge will move to its regular timeslot at 10 Pm on March 12.

CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said NBC’s decision to program the now-ailing The Jay Leno Show in primetime was “misguided” and though it allowed her network's 10 p.m. dramas to generate more ad revenue, “it had a negative impact on the business.” She had more harsh words for NBC, which has yet to announce definitively what will happen to the future of Leno or Conan O’Brien. “Ultimately there is no substitute for developing great programming, working with great talent and getting your programs on the air,” argued Tassler, who spoke to the nation’s TV critics today in Pasadena,...

In New York this morning, CBS released its schedule to advertisers. CBS had less work to do with its Fall 2009 schedule. And, comfortable atop the ratings, the Eye didn’t mess around with what wasn’t broken.
The big news was that the network has picked up Medium, which was cancelled by NBC just yesterday. Produced by sister company CBC Television Studios, it was a simple decision for the broadcast network to pick up the supernatural series that stars Patricia Arquette.
As expected, and as is logical, Medium will be paired with the thematically-similar Ghost Whisperer on Friday nights.
Other than that, CBS’s fall schedule is largely business as usual, anchored by sitcoms and procedurals.
The only new comedy, Accidentally on Purpose brings Jenna Elfman back to your television as a movie critic who gets pregnant. Accidentally, of course. It will air in the Monday comedy block between How I Met Your Mother...

Looks like Chief Galen Tyrol is up to his neck in corruption and bad influences, and it ain’t the killer cyborg from outer space kind. Check out the extended, minute and a half preview for Aaron Douglas’ new cop show, The Bridge. You know, I like the fact that Douglas is the star here, and not some pretty boy. Hope the show works out, if just because Tyrol was always my favorite character on BSG, and I didn’t have a whole lot of favorites on that show to begin with. It is the role of the police to protect society - but who is there to protect them? The police union has become powerless against the politically-motivated police department and street cop Frank Leo (Aaron Douglas) is sick of it. By popular vote Frank becomes president of the 8000 strong police union but makes many powerful enemies in the department along the way.

ABC is the latest network to pick up a Canadian produced television series. Copper is a 13-episode drama following a group of rookie police officers who went through the police academy together as they take jobs with a major urban centre force.
The show will air on Global in Canada. Showrunner on the project is Flashpoint veteran Tassie Cameron.
Flashpoint — about a tactical police squad — has been airing on CBS and NBC has picked up The Listener — about a telepathic paramedic — for the summer. Both of those shows are produced in Canada and air on CTV north of the 49th.
In February, CBS announced it was joining CTV in picking up The Bridge, a procedural crime drama starring Aaron Douglas (Chief Galen Tyrol on Battlestar Galactica) as a former cop turned union boss.

Toronto -- ABC is joining the swelling ranks of U.S. networks turning north for content, acquiring a Canadian cop drama for their primetime schedule.
ABC has picked up 13 episodes of "Copper" -- billed as "Grey's Anatomy" in the world of rookie cops -- from E1 Television, Canwest Global Communications said Wednesday.
The series' showrunner, Tassie Cameron, was head writer and co-executive producer on the first season of CBS and CTV's "Flashpoint," another Canadian cop drama that has had a successful run on CBS.
Cameron and fellow Toronto screenwriter Ilana Frank first pitched ABC Entertainment Group president Stephen McPherson on "Copper" in March, before taking the project to NBC, CW, Lifetime and Fox.
Interest in the Canadian import then continued over Miptv before ABC and E1 Television sat down to hammer out a deal.

CBS on Thursday signed a deal to co-produce its second cop drama with CTV after the Canadian network last year brought it "Flashpoint" during the WGA strike.
"The Bridge," from E1 Entertainment and 990 Multi Media Entertainment, was created by former police officer Craig Bromell and written by Alan Di Fiore ("Da Vinci's Inquest).
"The Bridge" portrays cops battling criminals on the streets and their bosses and know-nothing politicians in the corridors of power. The series stars Aaron Douglas ("Battlestar Galactica") as a police union head who locks horns with the police brass in an attempt to combat corruption.
Bromell said the Canadian series, a twist on the cops-and-cons procedural, takes viewers behind police lines to where ordinary officers are forced to combat corruption and skullduggery by their top brass and politicians when they're not patrolling the streets.
