- Ray becomes jealous when Andy's article gets published in "Sports Illustrated".
- Ray's friend and co-worker Andy writes his own article hoping to become a sports writer. But when Ray reads it, he doesn't like it. When he gives Andy some constructive criticism, he hurts Andy's feelings. The following week, Andy tells Ray he submitted the article to Sports Illustrated magazine without Ray's corrections, and they bought it. Ray then feels jealous, until he finds out that Sports Illustrated completely rewrote Andy's article.
- Andy asks for Ray's feedback on an article he wrote. When Ray gives his comments, Andy is devastated as Ray had too many comments. Andy cries as he believes that he will remain to be a statistics guy for the rest of his life. This article was his chance to become a columnist.
Ray narrates the incident to Debra. Ray says that he was giving the "Key to the mint" to Andy. Debra finds that patronizing and says that Ray is not the keeper of the "Key to the mint". Ray says that he was nice, understanding and patient with Andy. He says that Andy embarrassed him by crying. Debra tells Ray that perhaps Andy looks up to Ray, and respects him, and he should have been nicer towards him. Debra points out that Andy is just starting out and Ray is already successful, so its Ray's responsibility to accommodate him and help him & support him as needed. Debra says that other people have feelings too and Ray has to learn to respect them.
The next day Ray goes to office and apologizes to Andy. He says that he will help Andy improve the article. Andy tells Ray that Sports Illustrated bought the article without any changes and have promised to print it. Andy tells Ray that he mulled over Ray's suggestions and then decided to send in the article without incorporating Ray's inputs.
Ray is jealous because he could not get into Sports Illustrated himself. Ray tells Debra that Sports Illustrated has lowered its editorial standards and he does not like the magazine anymore. Ray tells Debra that Sports Illustrated is publishing Andy's article in its original form, without any of the modifications suggested by him. Debra then points out to Ray that he is very self-centered. He likes stuff so long as it is about himself, and the attention is on him. Debra is excited and happy for Andy. She says that Andy was able to get into the mint without Ray's help. Debra says that Ray is so into himself that he does not even pay attention when his own family is talking to him.
Ray goes to Marie's and finds that Robert is still visiting home to do his laundry. Ray needs a toothbrush and is very particular about having a blue colored one. Debra had taken the blue for herself and offered Ray the red one. Marie asks Robert to give a blue colored toothbrush to Ray, but Robert offers a yellow one, saying that the blue ones are his. Robert also says that Ray is self-centered and doesn't care about what others think. Ray says that he is not self-centered, and he is happy for Andy. Robert, Marie and Frank also agree with Debra. Frank points out that even as a baby Ray would cry all the time to gain attention. Frank blames Marie for the current state of affairs in Ray's life.
Later Andy tells Ray that Sports Illustrated rewrote his entire article. Andy says that Sports Illustrated had the same issues with the article that Ray did. Even then Ray just wants to know what SI people thought about the notes Ray gave on Andy's article.
