Synopsis

  • It's Aquaman's opening day. Initial box office projections (Ari says that the studio is projecting $ 95 million & if they are not met, life will not be good), already "Titanic"-sized, get even higher after the first West Coast numbers stream in, giving everyone hope that the film has a chance to pass "Spider-Man" as the biggest opening weekend in history (Spidey grossed $114 million on its opening day) Ari is strung up that he cant even have sex with his wife till opening day is over. They haven't had sex for 3 weeks, that's how tense Ari has been about this movie. Vince has promised the boys a "sick" gift if the movie opens at higher than $114 million.

Vince gets very excited to hear the first cut of the numbers (which had them beating Spider-Man for the biggest movie opening ever) and decides to buy everybody a Ducati bike.

To avoid getting recognized, Vince and the boys decide to take in a showing in the Valley, but the heat sets off blackouts and thus hurts the West Coast numbers. The blackout means that the theaters have to issue refunds. Vince is recognized while coming out and nearly causes a stampede, before his friends surround him and get him away in E's Maserati.

Mrs Ari wants Ari to attend an emergency therapy session with their marriage counselor. E calls Ari 3 times in the middle of the session and eventually Ari has to pick up. E tells Ari about rolling black-outs in LA. And sure enough the lights go out in the doctor's office too. The bouncing box office receipts (at one point Ari calls E to tell him that the projections are now down to $ 85 million, which is catastrophic) and the heat push everyone to the brink.

2 boys who met Vince at the premiere, follow them to the Ducati store and end up inviting the crew to their High School graduation party. They have a pool. To unwind, the crew ends up crashing a high school party, where Vince gets to live out his "Almost Famous" fantasy. Vince decides he wont make his life about money and wants to get hammered with the 17 yr old people.

When Ari finally finds them - a drunken Vince celebrating on a rooftop - he breaks the big news: "Aquaman" is back on track to break the weekend box office record (projecting $116 million). The blackouts only effected the reporting of the numbers. Most movie theaters had back-up systems and there was no revenue loss at all. Aquaman is a monster hit. The crew does shots to celebrate. Ari gets thrown into the pool. He goes back home to have sex with his wife.

Vince celebrates by gifting his Maserati to a couple of high school boys, who need a ride to impress the most untouchable girls in their class. Vince just tells them to return the car to the Beverly hills Maserati by the end of the month. The guys re-live a little part of their growing up that night, before returning to their normal lives.
