Butters' robot friend
RainDogJr13 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
South Park the Hits: Volume 1 – " AWESOM-O" (Season 8, 2004)

Cartman disguised as a robot, meet the A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000 and there will be only few people that will actually believe that the A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000 is a robot: the people of a Hollywood film studio, the military, a scientist and guess who is the only one from South Park that believes that the A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000 is a robot, certainly is quite easy to guess, certainly Butters!

AWESOM-O is another hilarious Cartman and Butters episode but here the things are a little different, is the same with Cartman making a joke to Butters and certainly Butters will believe that the A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000 came from Japan, that is now his robot friend. Things was going as planned for Cartman, the joke was going perfect but this time Cartman will not laugh, he can't say the truth to Butters who thinks that the A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000 is his very best friend, Cartman will travel to L.A. with Butters, certainly he won't eat because he is a robot, he will eat toothpaste!

Is really hilarious all of this just as the stuff with the people of the film studio (the A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000 can come with many movie ideas, Adam Sandler will have a lot of work!) and with the military (is like "let's turn the A.W.E.S.O.M.-O 4000 into a weapon before the Japanese"). In the end Cartman put him into this situation and believe me, he will pay (lame time for Cartman). Really a great episode, maybe not one of my very favourites ever but sure it gets a 10 in my book.

Absurdly hilarious and ironically moving, this is a wonderful parody of "The Iron Giant".

Warning: Spoilers
Writers Matt Stone & Trey Parker create one of their finest satires in SOUTH PARK by taking the story of "The Iron Giant" (and I'm sure countless other tales of the sort where the lonely kid befriends a robot) and flipping it perfectly. Butters is the lonely boy, often ridiculed at school and something of an outsider in the social circle that he is often a part of and the robot that Butters suddenly finds his companion is....Cartman!

Watching Cartman play the guise of AWESOM-O is absolutely hysterical. It is a perfect little satire and Trey Parker's vocal performance defies words. The fact that his voice is as far from sounding robotic makes the robot guise even funnier.

Cartman's plan to infiltrate Butters' personal life to acquire embarrassing stories with which to humiliate him backfires in the most epic way imaginable. That is part of what I love so much about this episode, watching Cartman's plan misfire to the extent that it does here. While it is often hilarious to watch Cartman escape punishment, the opposite works perfectly here. He finds himself in a position beyond which he bargained for and the result is hilarious, whether it be Butters "starving" his "new" friend OR taking AWESOM-O to Los Angeles on a trip to visit his aunt and uncle OR Cartman getting into the movie business.

This is an outrageously hilarious comedy. It also manages to find something strangely touching about the often sad life of Leopold 'Butters' Stotch and his feeling and experience of being an outsider. It takes the story trope of movies like "E.T" and "The Iron Giant" among other literature and the sort and twists it perfectly.

"AWESOM-O" is absurdly hilarious. One of my favourites. Cartman discovers new levels of being pathetic and cruel!

Pleasantly surprised

This is easily one of the funniest episodes in a while. Having Cartman act as a robot and take advantage of Butters is an idea with a lot of possibilities and they definitely worked with it. Instead of Cartman just being a douche as usual, he has to tone himself down to keep his robot persona. This adds a bit of tension as he has to remember to not give his identity away. It was somewhat easy to lay out that he was going to get caught at some point, but the situation is more of when, not if. It also remembers to add some serious situations that really test his commitment to not give himself up. Also he does get his comeuppance at the end which is really funny too. Seeing his Britney Spears side is so funny and it makes me wish the rest of the season was as laugh-out-loud funny as this. Some of the other episodes do have some really good moments but this episode, I have found, is the MOST consistently funny.

Mr. Scientist!

A hilarious episode, in what is so far the best season of South Park. Love him or hate him, episodes focused on Cartman's schemes (Scott Tenorman Must Die, Casa Bonita, etc.) are always the best.

Very funny

Warning: Spoilers
Awesom-o is a very funny south park episode. It involves Cartman dressing up as a robot and pretending he was sent to Butters from Japan. He does this so Butters will tell him all his embarrassing secrets, however Butters tells the robot-cartman that he has a video of Cartman dressing up like Britney Speras and making out with a Justin Timberlake cut-out. Cartman now must look for the tape while he hangs out with Butters. Eventually, they go to LA together and robot-Cartman gives movie idea's, the army finds out about the robot-cartman and try to reprogram it. This episode has very funny moments and is overall a fun, good episode!

The best episode of season 8
Dr_Death66618 May 2009
Warning: Spoilers
AWESOM-O is a very funny episode of South Park from season 8. The plot is that Cartman wants to learn all of Butters' deepest secrets, so he pretends he is a robot and befriends Butters, and like the idiot he is Butters believes AWESOM-O is really a robot. Cartman aka AWESOM-O almost gets destroyed, but then he reveals he is really just a boy, so Butters gets mad and shows everyone a video of Cartman dressed as Britney Spears making out with a photo of Justin Timberlake. The whole episode is very funny, and I suggest you watch it if you are a fan of South Park, even if this is the only episode from season 8 you can get.

Best Sp episode

Warning: Spoilers
Awesome-O is the best sp episode in my opinion. First off the Cartman and Butters dynamic is one of the best in the show and when they are together you know it's gonna be a good episode. Also Butters is already one of my favorite characters in the show so just seeing him is a plus for me. Butters sweet and innocent nature all while cartman is suffering feels deserved after all the horrible stuff he's done to butters in the past 3 seasons. And ending also feels deserved with cartman getting humilliated by the end. I love the first half of this episode it's oddly heartwarming especially with the song butters sings. Honestly 10/10 Best in the whole show.
