Awesome story!!
spacenut032821 April 2007
This was a well done movie and a cool story.

I disagree with the review that compared the "footage" to the Blair Witch Project though. I get motion sickness VERY easily, and BWP was no different, and I had no issues with this movie at all. It was definitely done so that you could tell the difference between the 70s footage and the modern footage, but I still didn't think it was too dizzying.

Very cool - I highly recommend you see this movie if it comes to your area!

It seems to have been mostly at film festivals before now...I saw it in Indianapolis this weekend (April 21st 2007), but hopefully it will catch on and get a little wider release.

Amazingly real for fiction
radioriot5 March 2009
I just watched it on our local PBS station since it was produced locally. The footage shot on campus was shot at the University of Evansville and the production company is here in Evansville too. They produce a lot of cable TV shows. I was blown away by the music. They did a great job of making the music sound like the 70's. Kinda light with a hard edge. Great soundtrack.

It also reminded me of all of my friends from that era that never made it to 30. Friends that died because of Vietnam, Drugs, Booze, Aids and just plain bad driving. I knew it was fiction but it still brought tears to my eyes thinking about all of that. Well done. Although I would have to say there really isn't a market for a movie like this with no sex or blood.

deja view

Somewhere in my basement there are boxes of tape telling the story of my band in the 70's. This movie has inspired me to salvage them for my children. It was a thrill to watch and will be my mnemonic for the hunt. I thought the soundtrack was excellent. There were some vintage instruments in the recording studio (such as the Hammond organ, the mixing console) and that setting brought back the whole experience of a family of friends creating music in that time. This film captured the significance of honoring an era when music was the dominant cultural medium. Other details, such as the tie-died sheet hanging on the wall, and the groovy wardrobe, set the nostalgic tone.

A 'must see' for anyone who ever played in a band!

One of the best

One of my fav. indie/low budget movies. I actually registered just to review this movie.

I saw it at the Toronto International Film Festival and found it to be the best, well rounded movie there.

I think it was distro through HD Showcase (still have the stub) I would love to get a copy of this if possible! Best unique concept in a while. Nothing like blair witch - this actually had a story.

The cast, plot and camera work were amazing and authentic; the story was consistent and never made you sit thinking "okay.., next act..."

Very impressed with the talent in front and behind the camera. Well done.

non-mocking "Mockumentary"

Warning: Spoilers
I saw this last night at the Stony Brook Film Festival and I kept having to remind myself that it was not a real documentary! The individual characters are not well developed but the "teams" of film makers are.

The music is amazing--the people in the band have such great voices. My biggest problem with it was the cinematography. It was shot like "The Blair Witch Project" in that unsteady format and I was actually "sea-sick" from it! Would I recommend it? Yes. It was an innovative piece of film-making. Would I see it again? Not without Dramamine! TO be honest I'd rather listen to the CD.

I feel betrayed
jeff-154625 November 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was presented to me as a documentary, and I believed it. Just like I believe the news when I see it on TV. But when the credits rolled, and it became clear that it was a fictional movie, I felt utterly betrayed. Right up until the credits, I thought it was one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. I loved it. But now I can't get over the lie, and I really don't know how to feel about this film anymore. After knowing it was fictional, I could see all the (many) holes in the story, all the inconsistencies... that I actively dismissed when I thought it was a documentary. It was a great film, but I felt betrayed.
