The narrator says that Pikachu defeated the flock of Spearows with Thunder Shock, but the move it actually used was Thunder.
The narrator says in the beginning that Ash chose Pikachu as his starting Pokemon, but Ash didn't really choose it. He had no choice since Pikachu was the only Pokemon Professor Oak had available.
