[Ricky wants to know why he can't have the candy Ozzie just brought home]
Ozzie Nelson: You can't have the candy because I bought it for your mother.
David Nelson: What was the misunderstanding about, Pop?
Ozzie Nelson: Well, I came home with a couple of tickets for the ballet.
Ricky Nelson: The ballet? Heck, that's sissy stuff.
Ozzie Nelson: It is not sissy stuff. A lot of men go to the ballet. Least a lot of men'll be going tonight.
[Ozzie doesn't want to tell the boys that he expects tonight's ballet to be somewhat risqué]
David Nelson: How come Mom's mad at you? Didn't she like the ballet?
Ozzie Nelson: Well, yes, but the feminine mind is a very weird and complicated machine.
Ricky Nelson: Like an airplane, huh, Pop?
Ozzie Nelson: Yes, without a pilot. You'll find that women are sometimes very difficult to understand.
Ricky Nelson: I'll say. There's this new girl in school, and I can't understand her
Ozzie Nelson: Whaddaya mean?
Ricky Nelson: Well, she's different from the other girls.
Ozzie Nelson: Different? In what way?
Ricky Nelson: She doesn't like me.
Ozzie Nelson: Oh, do most of the girls in school like you?
Ricky Nelson: Oh, sure, they all do. They think I'm cute.
David Nelson: Oh, Ricky, stop bragging. You're not cute at all.
Ricky Nelson: I don't know. I was lookin' in the mirror today, and I'm not bad.
David (as David Nelson) and Rick (as Ricky Nelson) appear only briefly in this episode, doing their homework; it's one of the funnier scenes. Everyone appears to enjoy "Listerine" (one of the show's sponsors). As the policeman, Mr. Vigran plays his part well. Ozzie and Harriet mention "Captain Billy's Whiz Bang", a semi-ribald magazine, which featured entertainment for adult men (and others) during the 1920s. Later, the Fawcett publication used the title words to form their "Captain Marvel" successful super-hero comic book line.
