Cuban translates Austrian experimental sound poet Ernst Jandl
Francisco Díaz is a poetry translator in Havana Cuba who has specialized on the works of the Austrian Sound poet Ernst Jandl. He comes to Vienna to meet Jandl's companions, such as Friederike Mayröcker, Bodo Hell and Bernhard Fetz.
He also visits his translator colleagues Istvan Eörsi, in Budapest, Luigi Reitani, in Udine, and Jean-Pierre Lefebre in Paris.
The interchange their working experiences on Jandl's concrete and experimental sound poetry and coincide that for translating this kind of language one needs not only a lot of expertise and humor, but also a good portion of luck.
This film was nominated in the category "Arts and Specials" for the prestigious Festival Rose d'Or 2006, in Switzerland.
