Wuthering Heights goes west
bkoganbing21 November 2016
Although an interesting story Zane Grey Theater got as far away from Zane Grey as you can get for source material. Sharp students of English literature will recognize elements of Wuthering Heights in this one.

As it opens, we don't see the killing the Heathcliff character John Derek has just killed the brother of Kathy in a gunfight. The three grew up as children together, the brother and Nancy Gates the children of the rich Robert Middleton. Derek grew up alone and unwanted and allowed to play with the rich kids, but never to aspire to be one of them.

So Middleton is out after Derek to get him before the law does and lynch him.

How will it end, not for me to say, but the Wuthering Heights similarities are too much to ignore in this unusual western story.
