- Professor Charles Xavier: So, Hank, what is your assessment of the new dome?
- Beast: Well, for one thing, they're not actually domes. They're spheres. The pyramids are completely encased in them.
- Professor Charles Xavier: Ah, so, no tunneling underneath?
- Beast: You had to know it wasn't gonna be that easy. As we've seen, any energy directed at them is multiplied and repulsed... violently.
- Professor Charles Xavier: What of the pyramids themselves?
- Beast: From what I've learned, both date back to 3000 BC, roughly the same date as Apocalypse's rule in ancient Egypt.
- Professor Charles Xavier: Significance?
- Beast: We scientists have a special term for that called "I don't know."
- Spyke: As for you: threatening little girls? You're lucky I just damaged your car.
- Duncan Matthews: Yeah? And you think you're gonna get away with messing up my ride?
- Spyke: Well, I guess the question is:
- [pops wrist spikes]
- Spyke: What are you gonna do about it?
- [Duncan's two companions run away in fear. Duncan sees his phone on the ground. Spyke flips it to him with a spike]
- Spyke: Go ahead. Make the call. Spread the word. Tell them the mutants of Bayville are off-limits to hate crime, as of now.
- [Spyke drops into the sewers, shooting off two flaming spikes that total Duncan's car]
- Duncan Matthews: [dials 911] Get me the police!
- Wolverine: When did the porcupine start shooting flaming arrows? I mean, did I miss an upgrade notice or something?
- Wolverine: [Professor X has suggested that Wolverine talk Spyke down] Maybe it slipped your notice, Chuck, but I'm not exactly the model of restraint, myself.
- Wolverine: Alright, I'll try to sweet talk the kid into not smacking down creeps and thugs who deserve it. But you'll be lucky if I don't end up joining him myself.
- Mechanic: The mutants have a plan, I know that.
- Woman: What is our government doing to control them? That's what I want to know.
- Kid: I'm starting to think the old lady next door might actually be one.
- Farmer: What's a mutant?
- Duncan Matthews: The one that did this? They call him Spyke! He lives in the sewer with a bunch of crazed mutant lowlifes! Bayville's just not safe anymore! We have to stand up and defend ourselves!
- Jean Grey: Duncan, don't do this.
- Duncan Matthews: Save it, Jean. My days of listening to you are over.
- [Duncan fires his mining laser at Jean, who blocks the blast with a force shield and then sends Duncan flying]
- Jean Grey: And my days of putting up with you are over!
- Callisto: I heard what happened.
- Spyke: They had it coming.
- Callisto: Spyke, listen to me. You're making the topsiders angry. It's hard enough out there without you...
- Spyke: No! They're already angry, I'm just stopping them from taking it out on us!
- Callisto: Oh, you're very brave, we all know that, and some Morlocks will follow your lead, but what chance have they got if you lead them into a battle?
- Spyke: Hiding in the sewers eating garbage and still we're hunted? Tell me, Callisto. What chance have they got if I don't?
- Spyke: What's the problem, as if I have to ask?
- Wolverine: Let's just say your actions lately have Charles "deeply concerned".
- Spyke: I've got one question for you, Logan. Do you think what I'm doing is wrong?
- Wolverine: [sighs] Bub, I'll be honest with you. In your place, at your age, I'd be doing exactly the same thing.
- Spyke: So, why are you here?
- Wolverine: Because I'm not in your place, kid. I'm part of the big picture now. There's trouble brewing all over the world, and people are way too tense.
- Spyke: We have a right to walk down the street, or go into a store.
- Wolverine: I know.
- Spyke: Logan, the mutants down here don't get to live in a mansion., They have no defense. They need a guardian, and that's me.
- Mrs. Leech: Stay away from the window. Someone might see you.
- Dorian Leech: You said I'm not a mutant.
- Mrs. Leech: I know, but these are scary times right now. People aren't thinking straight.
- [Dorian clutches his head and groans]
- Mrs. Leech: And all of this is just making your headaches worse.
- Dorian Leech: But what if I am a mutant?
- Mrs. Leech: Shhh, sweetie, don't even think that.
- Spyke: Ma'am, I'm really sorry about this. I'm just glad he wasn't hurt.
- Mrs. Leech: Hurt? Thanks to you, my little boy has been exposed as a mutant! What chance has he for a normal life now?
- Spyke: [sighs] None. None at all.
- [last lines]
- Professor Charles Xavier: Mrs. Leach, I realize these will be difficult times, but there is a place where you can find help.
- [hands Mrs. Leach a card]
- Professor Charles Xavier: The Xavier Institute for Gifted Children will welcome Dorian when you feel he is ready.
