If season three has a theme it's that periodically Vinnie is too often MIA. This is a typical non-Vinnie episode which is a stand alone type one,( like People Do It All The Time), featuring Frank and his father, that father who Frank told Vinnie was dead. Continuity error here, folks? I like Frank as a character very much but I'm sure most will agree Vinnie is the star of the show and we're not as vitally interested in Frank's hitherto unknown relatives, or indeed in Lifeguard's. These episodes are mildly interesting but hardly gripping. They say filler loudly and clearly. Apart from the Washington arc which was as dull as ditchwater, Vinnie wasn't around that much in the latter three quarters of his final series. And it makes me wonder if all was already not going well between him and Cannell. Or maybe some stories have a natural life and this one was running out of steam.
