The Cuckoo is bit more of a romp with more emphasis on comedy.
The dastardly Gessler is suffering from a lack of sleep caused by cuckoo noises. In fact he wants to take a crossbow to the cuckoo but he keeps getting interrupted.
Gessler's mood is not lightened as the Emperor demands more taxes and unhappy with what has been sent to him so far.
Meanwhile William Tell plans to intercept some the latest payments to the Emperor. In return Tell plans to give Gessler a cuckoo clock as a gift.
It makes a change from some of the previous darker episodes. A silly light knockabout comedy but it does lack a plot.
Frank Thornton is in this episode but he is not credited on the IMDB cast list.
