A pretty good mystery.
Audrey Totter who lives near the coast rescues a man, one night, right on the beach. She learns a little later that the rescued man was the commander of a wrecked ship more than twenty five years ago. The female lead - Totter - is also a nurse who takes care of an old woman. the precise widow of the deceased and lost captain of the wrecked ship. So Totter asks herself one question: has she rescued a ghost, a man back from the dead? And the photograph of the late captain doesn't lie. That's him she saved on the beach. That reminds me some early Lewis Allen's films made for Paramount Pictures, featuring Ray Milland, for at least one of them: THE UNINVITED, although it is not the same story. But only the same atmosphere.
More a mystery than a crime tale, as most of the others of the series.
