Ray Edgar Dodge (1900-1985), the first contestant, was the founder of 'Dodge Trophy & Awards Co.' and, in 1936, it began manufacturing the Oscar statuettes (Academy Awards), which lasted until 1982. In 1949, the company also started producing Emmy awards. The 34th Annual Academy Awards (1962), honoring the best in film for 1961, would be held the following day to this broadcast, on April 9, 1962.
