The telecast was live from New York and was sponsored by Remington electric shavers.
John Daly again mentioned at the end of the program that Dorothy was off to Cleveland once again to cover the Dr. Sam Sheppard murder trial.
At the end of Herbert Marshall's appearance Fred Allen claimed to have received an incorrect response. Mr. Allen believed he had asked, "Were you born not in this country?" To which he received a "No" reply from Mr. Daly. In fact, Mr. Allen's exact question was, "Were you born in this country . . . give or take a state or two?" thus "No" was correct. Without doubt Mr. Allen truly believed he received an incorrect response to his question but such was not the case. Human memory is a funny thing.
Mr. Bennett Cerf pronounces Los Angeles in a rather pretentious manner not uncommon at that time especially among those from New England. In fact, Bug's Bunny (Brooklyn) often used a similar pronunciation in cartoons of the era. Mr. Cerf pronounces "Angeles" with the "G" as in "gap" rather than the "J" in "June". Thus rendering it "Los Angle-liss".
