Warning: Spoilers
The unassuming start of the most awesome four-episode run in the history of the show. A new Russian President, caught between ideals and conservative hardliners, communicates a major initiative through a protocol meeting between his aides and Sam. One of the negotiators is played by irresistible heavy Ian McShane (DEADWOOD, SEXY BEAST). Leo and Jed fret over a recall disaster that befalls a major computer company. They give its CEO (the uber-wonderful Peter Scolari - BOSOM BUDDIES, NEWHART) an unorthodox bailout. Then, in the final minutes, the quiet jolt of adrenaline arrives, in the form of secret service agent Simon Donovan (Mark Harmon - SUMMER SCHOOL, CHICAGO HOPE, NCIS), who has been assigned to protect C.J. after she receives death threats. They have an instant, electric Lucy/Desi chemistry.

Interesting plot lines and some old friends

Warning: Spoilers
Running multiple plot lines keeps it interesting, and complex. The echoes of reality are very poignant. Or is that prescience of our reality today?

Russian emissaries work with the team to prepare for a Russia / USA meeting of Presidents... one of whom I knew but couldn't place. Perhaps he'd make a very capable hotel concierge for John Wick?

We see the arrival of Mark Harmon (Later NCIS boss, Leroy Jethro Gibbs) in a similar role for another agency. His boss is also from a similar role in later series or films.

Every time Admiral Fitzwallace appears I have trouble seeing him as anything other than the proprietor of a Maccas knock off franchise in Coming to America.

Charlie digs into a mystery to find a connection with FDR.

The people playing these roles are really capable actors who suck me into their reality each episode.

Classy

Warning: Spoilers
This episode hit all the right notes. Sam gets a chance to influence a major world political decision but makes sure to be humble and ensure he's right. CJ has a strong argument with the President where neither gets too heated or starts yelling. Spoiler Alert: This scene shows why she gets promoted later in the series. The episode ends on a strong show of POTUS's humanity where he is bailing out a computer company for doing the right thing, but he has to leave this million-dollar meeting for an "important photo op" with an audience-pleasing side story. All in all, this episode shows why this show was so great.
