Trail hardened Cassie Tanner joins the train, and sets her eye on Major Adams. But the train desperately needs horses, and she may be the only one who can make the dangerous journey to buy them.
Flint scouting helps Cassie Tanner fight off a Paiute Indian attack. She asks to join the wagon train as she is headed for California where the men are. She is an older crusty woman dressed as a man that everyone mistakes for a man. After joining the train it becomes clear that she has her eyes on Major Adams as her "man" while she rebuffs any attempts by Charlie to talk to her. This becomes a major nuisance to Adams but a comical delight to the others. As the problem escalates, they decide to see if Clee might be an option but Clee is ahead of them with his eye on her. They are on the edge of the main desert where they will be out of Paiute territory but they need fresh horses. Flint tries to get through but is wounded and returns to the train. Cassie tells them she is the one to go as she knows how to trade horses and Adams must stay with the train. Her and Clee with several men go after the horses but return to find the train under a major Indian attack.—Anonymous
