- Planning to sail to Boston, the Major, Hawks and Charlie are instead shanghaied to New Orleans where they meet a Captain who has different ideas on raising his child and running a ship.
- Adams, Hawks, and Wooster have a first class sailing trip to Boston planned while Flint is going back cross country through rough Indian territory. However, while Flint is being treated as an honored guest by Indians and visiting the now sheriff, Willy Moran, the other three men are shanghaied on a freighter headed to New Orleans with the fair Captain Cobb but a vengeful first mate. The men settle into being sailors and find the Captain has his young daughter and her tutor Minnie on board. The girl, Pat, is excited to hear Adams talk about the west. Minnie is concerned, however, that Pat is being harmed in the all male environment with no children. Adams is forced to hit the first mate to save Pat during a storm and could be subject to hanging. He is freed but the first mate tries to frame him for harming Minnie. Confusion reigns due to conflicting stories as the Captain investigates to learn the truth and further hears that Adams proposed to Minnie. Adams uses the false story to help Minnie and Pat while trying to return to land. In the end a new wagon train is formed with some odd members.—Anonymous
