This is the second episode of "The Unexpected" I have seen and I am shocked how good both episodes were AND how annoying and horrible the narration was. This is because unlike normal narrators, this guy occasionally interrupts to make commentary or make annoying comments--and it really is unnecessary and detracts from the overall show.
This one begins with some guy (Neville Brand) jumping off a bridge. Then, the film stops and the story backs up to the events that led to this point. Mailey (Brand) is a bit of a loser. He hates his life and wants better. One day he decides to change his life by stealing $43,000 from his company. He immediately puts it in a safe deposit box and figures that he'll go to jail but it will be worth it--he'll get the money out and live like a king after he serves his sentence. Not surprisingly, his plans don't go exactly as planned...after all, he WAS jumping off the bridge when the show began!
Overall, this is a clever episode--well written and engaging. It also has a nice dark sense of humor I appreciate. I just wish they'd have gotten rid of the narrator...or stuck a rag in his mouth! Then it would have been fantastic.
