As Ashley moves out of the boys' apartment and into Johnny and Sharon's, Pete's grandfather moves in. He has a serious liver problem but hasn't told Pete. Johnny has a lot of trouble coping with two women in the apartment.

Pete helps Ashley move up to Johnny and Sharon's apartment, but just as she leaves, Pete's grandfather Charlie moves in. He left his wife but didn't tell her where he was going. Charlie has serious liver damage and hasn't long to live, but hasn't told Pete. Johnny is having a lot of trouble coping with two women in the apartment, particularly concerning privacy matters; he accidentally sees Ashley topless, then surprises her in the shower.—jem
