Komansky seems like a jerk in this one.

Shortly after the episode begins, Komansky is driving back to the base and nearly runs over another soldier. The other soldier has a German accent, so Komansky belts him...which is pretty weird as I am sure many German-Americans served during the war...including some with accents. Regardless, through the rest of the episode Komansky seems to really have a chip on his shoulder concerned Sgt. Schultz (yes, this is the name he uses...just like in "Hogan's Heroes" which was airing as well in 1966. By the end, however, Komansky comes to realize what a jerk-face he'd been as Schultz proves his worth to the 918th.

It's interesting that Robert Walker played the German-American, as he also played a German in an episode from season two. He was fine in this role and although the plot unfortunately includes Gallagher (and his crew) getting captured and escaping from the Germans AGAIN (a way overused plot device), it's a very interesting episode...and well worth seeing.
