Much of the monologue is about Johnny's experience hosting the Academy Awards the previous night. The comedy segment is actual questions asked of research services at the public libraries in Buffalo, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Laramie. Roger Moore discusses a variety of topics - his recollection of being the Oscar presenter when Marlon Brando's award was refused, telling jokes with dialects, and the aspirations of his children; Johnny emphasizes how popular Moore is overseas when they have traveled together, due to his James Bond films. Maureen Stapleton talks about the Oscars, and winning for her performance in "Reds" on her fourth nomination; she notes that she still hasn't seen the movie, or any of the other nominees, as she tends to watch old movies rather than new ones. She talks about her favorite movies and actors when she was young - particularly Robert Taylor and Joel McCrea, with whom she desperately wanted to work. A clip from "Reds" is shown.
