- The comedy segment is questions from the audience. Lynn Redgrave is wearing a dress given to her by Mr. Blackwell after he put her on his worst dressed list, and she very much likes it; she also comments on her husband's critiques of her wardrobe. Johnny's production company is involved in Redgrave's new series "Teachers Only". She says she didn't have any inspiring teachers growing up, when she attended an all-girls school. Her children generally haven't been too interested in seeing her performances, but are excited about Norman Fell being in her series because they are fans of "Three's Company". She and Johnny have a discussion about kids of celebrities being more excited about other famous people, and less impressed by their parents; he recalls that Red Skelton's son reacted that way to him. She also mentions that when she starred in "Saint Joan" on Broadway, her children were only interested in seeing the burning scene every day. She explains that when she is doing dramatic work, she can be more difficult as a mother than when she is in a comedy; she traces this to her father Michael's similar demeanor, as he would often sing with the family at home only when he was doing comedies such as "The Importance of Being Earnest". Franklyn Ajaye does a stand-up routine. Tom Hanks makes his first appearance on The Tonight Show. He discusses training to become a juggler, explaining that he wants a fall-back job in case of the apocalypse, as he expects there won't be any TV or movies. He says that Peter Scolari (his co-star on "Bosom Buddies") is an excellent juggler, and he demonstrates juggling teacups. Originally from Oakland, he discusses moving to New York City, and talks about often living in an apartment with no heat, recalling an incident when his building's maintenance man expected him to help out in fixing the basement furnace.—lenab9011
