When Nate Crandall (actor Rhodes Reason) is being photographed by Jim Edwards, Sr. (actor Dabbs Greer), Jim Edwards (actor Jack Grinnage) says to Crandall, "Alright, Smile!". This is not historically accurate. People did not smile for photographs during the 1800's. It was not until the early 1900's that people began to smile when their pictures were taken.
Early in the episode, as Jim Edwards is galloping away on his horse, the aerial shot, no doubt filmed near noon time on a sunny autumn day, pics up the shadows of the rotor blades of the low-flying helicopter carrying the camera. The shadows can be seen at the beginning of the shot along the lower edge of the frame for several seconds before the camera is panned higher as the rider escapes the gunfire. At the end of the credits of the first episode, "Helicopters furnished by Southwest Helicopters, Inc." is shown, which apparently was how many of the trail riding scenes were filmed throughout the series.
Jim's father would have to be tried for the jail break he was guilty of. He would not just walk free as happened in the show.
