- Tommy convinces Titus and Erin to attend a self-help seminar. But are the Titus family's problems too much for Jerry October to handle, or the key to his next book?
- Titus has taken up a job at an auto-parts store. Erin and Tommy decide to "fix" Titus. A self-help guru Jerry October (David Hyde-Pierce) gets more than he bargained for when the Titus family arrives at his seminar "Life Forward". Tommy has tricked the gang into attending a motivational seminar (called "Life Forward") on pretext of having lunch together. Erin paid $300 for the seminar as she wants Titus to pull himself out of the rut, he is in. Titus is now determined to show Erin that he doesn't need the motivational seminar.
Jerry gets Titus to participate, but Titus tricks Erin by divulging that she tricked Titus in to attending and hence she has the trouble with directness. Then as Erin tries to walk away, Tommy accuses Erin of not applying to grad school. Jerry confronts Erin for not applying for Grad School. Jerry tries a few more techniques to establish that Erin has been really negative about things in her life. He also points out her own self esteem problems with herself. Jerry then uses his techniques to convince Erin to apply for grad school. Erin leaves the room. Titus is perplexed as he has been trying to Erin to apply to Grad School forever.
Then Jerry turns his attention on Titus when Tommy reveals that Titus ran his hot rod shop into the ground and hasn't done one thing to turn it around. Titus blames his father, but Jerry convinces him to call Ken and forgive him.
Dave is next, who wants Ken to accept him as his real son, and not just somebody that an ex-wife left with him. Dave also wants to be bitten by a radio-active spider and to acquire super-powers. This is when Ken barges into the workshop. Ken is enraged to hear from Titus that he "forgives him". Ken knows that Jerry is trying to play with Titus's mind. Ken calls BS on Jerry's whole seminar. As Jerry tries to fix Ken, Ken picks random people in the workshop and tells them their problems (the fat guys need to lose weight, The black girl needs to marry a white guy and take his money in the divorce, the bald guy should wear a hat). Ken yells at all the participants to get up, go into the real world and solve their own problems with actions. Jerry is impressed by how Ken is able to solve their problems (Ken calls them all Wussies)
Ken Says Jerry is the worst of all, since he can't fix his own problems. Jerry admits that he has had 3 divorces and he is an alcoholic. Jerry wants everyone to be like Ken. Titus cannot believe that even Jerry got impressed by Ken. Jerry loves Ken and asks Titus to leave the seminar. Titus says that he doesn't need Jerry, since he has been force fed a life seminar by Ken for the last 30 years, for free. Ken takes the whole gang out and tells Jerry to refund everyone's money, since Ken did all the work. Jerry runs away from his own workshop.
