- Fez counts how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie roll pop. Jackie is still mad at Kelso and won't consider talking to him. While she sees Fez trying to hit on her, but she continues to ignore him. Kelso is really hurting and feels very lonely. Kelso even tries to open up about his feelings to Donna. Donna tells Kelso that Jackie has moved on and she is not coming back to him, because he cheated on Jackie.
Eric does well working at Price Mart, even gets sincere praise from Red. He took initiative and put new price stickers the clocks on sale before Red has to tell him to do it. Red actually sets him as example for a former plant colleague, eternal malingerer Earl, who becomes the primary butt of their jokes. Red redirects his anger away from Eric onto Earl (Robert Clendenin), one of his slacker employees at Price Mart. Earl is frequently late to work and makes silly excuses like his dog got hit by a car. Problem is that he makes the same excuse multiple times in a week. Red asks Earl to be more like Eric. Eric gets really freaked out when he makes a joke and Red laughs at it.
This makes Eric happy until Red fires Earl the next time he is late to the office, leaving Eric to question his father's work attitude. Eric was outside Red's cabin, listening to Red yelling at Earl for a long time. Earl cried. Eric tells Red that he didn't like the way he handled Earl, and that yelling at Earl was not the right thing to do. Eric argues that Earl was Red's friend. Eric tells Kitty that Red is just mean. And without Earl, Eric is back to being the worst person in Red's books. Kitty explains to Eric that yelling at Eric is how Red expresses that he loves him and cares for him.
Kelso realizes Jackie is too short to be worth missing, there are many girls still to see naked. Kelso starts to date Laurie again and the gang isn't too happy with his choice. Kelso shows up at Kitty's front door to pick up Laurie for a date. Kelso and Laurie soon start having sex. The gang challenges Kelso that he doesn't love or even like Laurie. Kelso says that at least he gets to do it with Laurie. Donna tells Jackie that Kelso is dating Laurie.
Laurie gets a lecture from Kitty, and Michael a simultaneously a simplified version from Hyde (who says those 2 could make the dumbest babies ever), against their mismatched affair. Kitty tells Laurie that Kelso might have some good qualities, but he is wrong for her. Hyde tells Kelso that Laurie sleeps with everyone and hence is wrong for Kelso. What is convenient is not always the best.
Jackie gets the basement gang to side with her. Laurie doesn't want Jackie to hang around the basement, but Jackie pushes that her friends want her there. Eric supports her. Laurie storms off with Kelso.
