Synopsis

  • Jackie finds a way to make up with Michael Kelso who dumped her: he may kiss another girl; but Jackie reserves choosing her 'rival'. She vetoes every choice Kelso makes (Too tall, too tan, too rich and so on) and when they can't agree, she finally leaves the choice to him. His is surprisingly romantic, as he kisses Jackie. One thing leads to another and Jackie tricks Kelso into proposing to her.

Eric is delighted to catch Donna drunk as a skunk in bright daylight because of Casey (Eric was with Kitty, who is shocked). Donna was supposed to be in school and Kitty is alarmed to learn that Casey called in sick on her behalf. Kitty marches over to Bob to narrate the entire incident, and she wants Bob to discipline Donna. Eric imagines that Donna will see the kind of person Casey is and will come running back to Eric and he would be waiting for her with open arms.

Bob is a walkover who lets her get away with everything, regardless of Joanne who wants to stand up to Donna. Donna tells Bob she isn't grounded and tells Joanne she is not her mother and hence has no say in the matter. Bob brings the matter to Red and wants him to step in and get Donna to stop seeing Casey. Bob confronts Donna and forbids her from seeing Casey, but she refuses and says that she will meet whoever she wants and whenever she wants.

When it gets too gross Red steps in and sits everyone down. Red tells Donna that it is very unlike her for skipping school and not having any respect for her elders. Bob once again says that Casey is not boyfriend material and asks him to leave Donna alone. Casey seizes the opportunity to dump her, publicly. Casey says that dating Donna has been a real bother and wants to call it a day. He even says that he never meant it when he said that he loved Donna. Donna is humiliated and blames Eric for everything.

A few hours later she comes crawling back to Eric and says she is sorry for everything and kisses Eric and wants to be with back with him. Eric's pointless pride makes him refuse to be her 'second choice'. Before Eric comes to his dumb ass senses (even Kitty uses the term) Donna decides to emigrate to California, where her mother lives. Red makes Eric realize that he has nothing to be proud of. He is not an athlete and not even particularly good looking. Eric realizes that he loves Donna, and he messes things up as he always wants them to be his way. Eric goes over to Donna's, but she has already left.

Afraid that Jackie might enforce her 'way out', marriage because she says so, Michael decides to drive Donna all the way. The long road proves tormentingly fishy, as Hyde had first dragged Fez along stealing dead fish and then decided to hide it in one of Kelso's van's wheels cap. During the trip Kelso to feel Donna up, but she keeps swatting him away.
