Synopsis

  • When the basement boys use fake IDs to drink alcohol, Hyde recognizes barman Bud (Robert Hays): his dad, who abandoned his ma and him and hasn't even phoned since he returned to Point Place a year ago. Hyde wants nothing to do with Bud, even though Bud is super excited to see Hyde and wants to catch up with him and make up for lost time. Bud has been back in town for over a year and still didn't think about checking up on Hyde.

Leo comes by for breakfast and informs Kitty that Hyde's father is back in town. Eric confirms the news to the family. Kitty is determined to bring them together, despite Red -who has to put up with Leo too- and bitter Steven himself. Red doesn't want to interfere in Hyde's family matters, but Kitty sees this as her responsibility as Hyde is now with her.

Kitty invites Bud for dinner, but Hyde refuses to meet him. Kitty advises Hyde to make new memories with Bud, like fixing the car, playing ball, Bud bringing him beer when Hyde has a nightmare and so on. She convinces Hyde that Bud is a changed man and is not the same man from 8 years ago. Hyde goes to yell at Bud that he can't just walk into his life 8 years after abandoning him. Bud accepts everything that Hyde says, and they become good buddies. Bud invites Hyde to stay with him and tricks him into giving him money in the name of paying overdue rent. Bud says that he has 2 days to pay rent before he is evicted, and Hyde offers the amount as a loan. Kitty is over the moon that she had a role in bringing father and son back together, but Red watches Hyde giving Bud money. Hyde tells Red that he is moving in with Bud. He leaves without telling Kitty, but Red gives him a hug. Red also tries to warn Hyde that Bud is not a nice man.

Donna is cool about Playboys in the basement but makes a girlish fuzz about Eric still having some in his room. Donna feels that she is not enough for Eric, and that is why he needs the magazines to satisfy his needs. Donna is furious and walks out. Hyde tries to explain that all guys are wired likes this. If Eric was dating a playmate, he would go into the bathroom and look at naked pics of Donna. That's just how things are. Donna forgives Eric and makes out with him. Eric continues with his playboys.

Fez goes by the book (Playboy again) to seduce Jackie. The book had an article on giving attention to girls by calling out their name again and again in a sentence, but that's the wrong target. Jackie is annoyed by it and tries the same trick on Fez to annoy him, but he is turned on instead. Next Fez tries the tight pants and open shirts, which Jackie thinks only cheap and easy girls will like. Bingo, Laurie likes Fez's look.
