- Jackie wants Hyde to shave off his beard. Hyde simply ignores her and walks away.
The news breaks that Jackie's dad councilman Burkhart had to resign (& could go to prison) after embezzlement charges. This convinces Kelso that she will soon be running back to home for a comforting shoulder. But Jackie blows right by Kelso and into Hyde's arms. Hyde has no experience on how to deal with such a situation and cannot comfort Jackie, so she hugs Donna. Kelso is perplexed that Jackie never came to him. Hyde goes to Kitty for advice. He says that he was supposed to comfort Jackie and didn't know what to say.
'Perfect couple' Eric and Donna find they disagree whether the way to go for Hyde with Jackie is closeness or giving space (Eric is for giving space, while Donna goes for closeness), and asking the equally divided Forman parents only causes another menopause-crisis. Red wants to give space and Kitty wants to comfort. Red says during the menopause craze, no amount of comfort would help, space is what kitty needs. She storms off.
Fez enjoys bossy boss Nina (Joanna Canton) at the DMV, giving him a stern lesson in fingerprints-taking. Nina comes on to Fez and starts kissing him, and he grabs her butt. But then Nine pulls back (saying this is wrong) but the ink leaves its black mark on her and a part of him he normally only touches, a lot. Fez masturbates and his penis turns black from the ink and now he is worried. The gang gets him to try bleach, Comet, steel wool and even more ink.
Meanwhile Jackie is angry at Hyde, as he can't even comfort her as her dad's going to prison. Hyde says he will never be the "comforting" kind of guy. The one who always says the right thing at the right time. Jackie says that all she is looking for is a gesture. Later he shaves his beard off to cheer up Jackie.
Kelso has dug up his pallet gun from his garden, which was buried after he accidentally killed Eric's hamster. Till now Eric was oblivious to this and believed that his hamster went upstate to live with a nice farm family. Hyde's taunting Kelso about killing Eric's hamster coincides with another involuntary shot. Kelso shoots the gun while talking about how Jackie cheated on him with Hyde (Hyde points out that Kelso dumped Jackie for 2 months and tried to make out with a random beach girl in California), and the shot hits Hyde. The fiend -who constantly punches his poor pall's arm black and blue- pretends to be hit in the eye. Michael, who fears to have shot 'accidentally on purpose', runs away. Hyde tells Eric and Donna that the shot barely grazed his shoulder, but he wants to teach Kelso a lesson.
Hyde starts wearing an eye patch to make Kelso feel even more guilty. Kelso returns with a burger and a soda to pacify Hyde. Kelso admits that he is not OK with Hyde and Jackie and perhaps might have shot him on purpose. Kelso asks Hyde to shoot him to even the score. Hyde shoots and then reveals that his eye is OK after all.
