This episode had the potential to be another generic Teen Titans verses bad guys story. We've already had two of those so far, therefore I was slightly worried when the episode first started. However, I'm starting to see why so many people praise the writing in this show since that is what saved it!
The writers decided to make Thunder more than a one-dimensional character and gave him a conscience. Throughout the episode, Thunder comes to realise the effects his "fun" is having on people around him and his brother is constantly peer pressuring him into doing these things. In fact, I would like to see these two again, even though I think the writers managed to give them a good and complete arc in this episode alone.
The opening prank Beast Boy did on Starfire was fun, but one of the best parts of this episode was Slade. Finally, we get to see our big bad in action, albeit in a crappy disguise, but that voice is brilliantly. I can't wait to see Slade and Robin fight again in a longer and uncut scene.
Overall, a well-written episode that subverts expectations by making the two bad guys more than one-dimensional.
