Two in the attic
searchanddestroy-12 April 2020
Not bad tale of a father and his son hiding in an attic, because the old man has a criminal record and is afraid of the police who searches the lot. Those two characters are rather interesting, and compelling in their behavior. But it's not DIARY OF ANN FRANK either. Unfortunately a flat ending makes this drama a tepid feature. Smooth but not more.

I normally cut early TV shows a lot of slack....but this one was just bad.

Most early TV shows were made on minuscule budgets with cheap sets and effects. So, I didn't mind that this episode of "Suspense" isn't very nice looking or sounding. But while I could look past the cheap organ music and cheap sets, I couldn't look past the writing...which was just bad. It's a shame, as some fine actors appear in this one.

The story begins with a father (E. G. Marshall) and his young son leaving a boarding house where they have lived in order to move to a nicer one. You can see why when he tells the man who runs the place with his wife. The man is mean and belligerent and begins getting rough with the kid. Mr Hunt stops the nasty landlord...when suddenly the landlord falls to the floor....dead. Now up until this time, the show was fine...but what the man does next defies all common sense and shows bad writing....very bad writing. Watch it and see what I mean...it just doesn't make much sense and makes a simple think suspenseful when it really isn't.
