Goofs

New Order: Part 2

Stargate SG-1

Edit

Continuity

While on board his Asgard ship, the "Daniel Jackson", Thor loses contact with his fellow Asgard, Penegal, during a video communication. The screen displays a "Connection Lost" message or similar, written in Hieroglyphics (and so, presumably, in the Goa'uld language), rather than in Norse Runes, as it would appear on an Asgard computer.

Factual errors

In the promotion ceremony at the end of the episode, Sgt. Harriman reads out the order that "Major Samantha Carter is promoted to the grade of lieutenant colonel." Lieutenant colonel and major are military ranks, not grades. Although it is common for military personnel to use pay grades interchangeably with ranks in informal conversation, promotion orders always refer to ranks.
04:17 LIEUTENANT Womack is wearing Captain's rank insignia, as denoted by the pair of bars on her shoulder. A single bar would be the appropriate rank insignia if she is, indeed, a Lieutenant as credited in this and other episodes in which the character appears.

Crew or equipment visible

Thor's back is visible when Daniel Jackson is beamed onto Thor's ship. The metal mount that holds the Thor puppet upright is visible.

Character error

At the beginning of the ceremony promoting Major Carter to Lieutenant Colonel, as the newly-promoted General O'Neill enters the gate room he begins marching, or steps off, with his right foot. No military man of any time in service would step off with his right foot because all forward marching steps off with the left. A man with enough time in service to become a general would never commit such an obvious error, especially during a promotion ceremony. (On the other hand, O'Neill's flippant disregard for proper etiquette and military protocol is legendary in series canon. His knee problems are well-established too so he may favour his right leg.)
During the promotion scene at the end of the episode, Sgt. Harriman is wearing a name tag that says "Davis".
