Plot

While redialing old Stargate addresses, the SGC discovers that a gate that was previously buried has become uncovered. They send a probe through and find two archaeologists. However, when they travel through the Stargate, they find that it is located in a society in civil war: one continent believes that the people were created by a Goa'uld, whilst their enemy believes that humans arrived from another planet - by the Stargate. O'Neill, Carter and Jackson are captured by the authorities and questioned, but Teal'c is wounded and blinded. Can he help SG-1 escape the hostiles and get back through the Stargate?

On the first planet where Sam's routine 'cold dialing' program gets an unexpected response, a MALP allows Daniel to talk to Nyan and Mallin, Bedrosian archaeologists who just accidentally dug up the previously buried stargate, thus proving the legend people arrived on the planet by stargate, the origin of a 2000-year civil war with the rival Optrician continent. The male Nyan proves fascinated, friendly, open-minded and helpful, curing Teal'c's blindness after a staff weapon duel with one of the Bedrosian troops of intransigent commander Rigar -a zealot of the cult of supposed creator Nefurtum, a Goa'uld identified by the blue lotus of one of Ra's minor lords- whose troops were selfishly alerted by the small-minded female and captured the other SG-1 members, determined to prove there is no stargate, or at least cover it up, even after contact is established with SGC. Brave civilian Nyan is Teal'c's only help to liberate the others and fight through Rigar's line.—KGF Vissers

The scientists Nyan and Mallin unearth a Stargate on another planet researching their origins. The SGC discovers the Stargate operational and sends a probe to explore the planet. Daniel contacts Nyan, and the SG-1 travels to the planet. Soon, Nyan explains that his planet has been in a civil war for many years. Nyan's people believe their origin was on the planet itself while their enemies believe they have been brought from another planet through a passage. But Mallin reports the arrival of the SG-1 to the military, and their leader is convinced that the SG-1 and the Stargate are a scheme from their enemies. Jack, Sam and Daniel are arrested, and Teal'c fights against a soldier and becomes blind. Now Nyan helps Teal'c to improve his vision and rescue his friends.
