Don S. Davis's final appearance as part of the main cast. His character, General Hammond, was promoted to Lieutenant General and reassigned to the Pentagon to explain his absence. Although it was Davis's decision to leave the series for personal reasons, the change in the character's status is also consistent with real U.S. military protocol as Hammond, based on his approximate length of service, would likely need to be promoted to avoid mandatory retirement.
During the final scene there is some faint orchestral music playing. These tones would later become the pre-chorus in the Stargate: Atlantis (2004) theme song.
Michael E. Ryan's successor, John P. Jumper, appears as himself. He was originally scheduled to appear in an episode filming in April, but the start of conflict in Iraq made him postpone his appearance.
This episode (and Lost City: Part 1) were adapted from the script for the proposed but unmade feature film Stargate 2.
When this two-parter originally aired, each episode had individual different on-screen guest- and end credits. The DVD-version of Lost City part 1 & 2 however is merged together into one 90-minute episode, with combined on-screen credits for both parts. When these episodes are syndicated today as separate episodes, sometimes the combined on-screen guest credit run, thus crediting several actors for part 1, that are only present in part 2. The IMDb credits reflect the original individual on-screen credits.
