The Most Toys (1990)

Goofs

The Most Toys

Star Trek: The Next Generation

Edit

Continuity

When Kivas throws acid on Data's uniform, there are dark spots high on his chest and his right arm. When the acid starts smoking, it is much lower on his chest and not at all on his arm.
When Picard reads Data's Shakespeare book, the bookmark rests on the right page in the long shot, but it is on the left page in the close-up.

Factual errors

When Fajo is showing Data his unique possessions, he mentions the Dali painting in passing. Presumably this painting, "Persistence of Memory", is meant to be the original painted by Dali in 1931. That painting is actually quite small, only 9 by 13 inches, versus the size shown here which looks to be 24 by 30 inches or in that range. Dali produced other variations of the theme of melting watches, but there is only one "Persistence of Memory" painting. Of course, it wouldn't really be visible or recognizable if the actual size were shown in this episode.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When Geordi wakes from the dream he is having about Data's accident, he picks up his visor, seems to look at it and turns it around then puts it on. Geordi is blind without his visor and would not be able to see it was the wrong way around. However, he can tell by touch that it is backwards without seeing it.

Revealing mistakes

Although Data was "playing dead" when Fajo is showing him off to his friend, when the camera angle moves to a side view of Data you can see him blink.

Plot holes

Fajo has a personal forcefield that prevents Data from attacking him by impeding Data's positronic flow if he comes too close. The simple solution for Data would have been to throw one of the many objects in the room at him, which Data could do with great force and accuracy.
Considering that all of his priceless, one of a kind items were stolen, it seems a bit odd that Kivas Fajo's official record (as requested by Picard) would list him as a "Collector of rare antiquities" and not as a notorious thief.
Fajo says that the liquid will completely dissolve Data's uniform in seconds, yet when Fajo leaves about twenty seconds later, the uniform is not only still there, the spread of the decay seems to have come to a halt.
Possibly for production reasons, the smaller shuttlepod was used to ferry goods to the Enterprise, rather than the larger, more powerful shuttlecraft, which could have carried more per trip.

Character error

Captain Picard addresses Lieutenant Commander La Forge as "Lieutenant." The correct form of address is "Lieutenant Commander" or, less formally, "Commander," but never "Lieutenant."
When Worf is at the Ops station reading the results of their cleanup of the tricyanate contamination, he states that the concentration is 70 grams per cubic centimeter. This is denser than any known atomic matter. The densest metal, pure Osmium, is only 20 grams per cubic centimeter.

Worf may simply be reading the units on his display wrong. 70 grams per cubic meter would be a more reasonable measurement for a toxic compound.
Although Fajo is Zibalian, he describes to Data how his youth was "wasted on the streets on Zimbalia."
