Avery Brooks, Barry Jenner, and Cirroc Lofton in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993)

Goofs

Tears of the Prophets

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Edit

Continuity

Damar's presentation to Weyoun states that the orbital defense platforms's arsenal consists of a thousand plasma torpedoes. When the platforms are seen in operation, they are using a continuous cutting beam in addition to plasma torpedoes.

Revealing mistakes

When the USS Defiant and the USS Hood begin firing on the moon where the power generators are located, the registry number on the front of the Defiant is NCC-74210, the registry number of the USS Valiant.
Two Starfleet officers in the war meeting are still wearing TNG style uniforms. That style of uniform was phased out more than two years before this episode takes place. It was phased out in favor of the DS9/Voyager style black jumpsuit with colored shoulder yoke and then that style was retired in favor of the black two-piece uniform with quilted gray shoulders and division-colored undershirt.
When Dukat is telekinetically lifting Jadzia off the ground, the harness that is actually lifting her can be seen through her uniform.
Two of the Reomulad Warbirds decloaking around DS9 are the exact same shot, but one has been shrunken down and put into the distance while the other is in the foreground.

Plot holes

Dialogue indicates that Dukat and the Cardassians were unaware until now that the wormhole is the Temple of the Prophets and contains powerful alien beings that the Bajorans view as the gods of their religion. This information is not a secret among the Bajoran people or the residents of Deep Space Nine. It is inconceivable that an empire with such a highly functional intelligence apparatus as the Cardassians would somehow be unaware of this common knowledge.
When Sisko is incapacitated, Major Kira assumes command of the Defiant. While this happened on occasion in season 3, after Worf joined the crew in season 4 he was made first officer of the Defiant while Kira remained first officer of DS9. DS9 is technically a Bajoran installation that Starfleet is merely administrating while the Defiant is a purely Starfleet vessel. The fact that they are in the middle of a coordinated Starfleet operation and she is not a Starfleet officer only exacerbates the issue.
It is unclear why Major Kira and Garak, who are not Starfleet officers, would be participating in a Starfleet military operation but Dr. Bashir and Jadzia Dax, who are part of the Defiant's usual crew, are not.
General Martok gives the order for the task force to move out. Sisko was put in command of the task force. It is inappropriate for any other officer to give that order.
The Cardassian orbital weapons platforms are said to be armed with plasma torpedoes. Plasma torpedoes are an outdated type of weaponry not seen since the original Star Trek series. They were replaced by photon torpedoes and later quantum torpedoes.

Character error

When discussing the plan to trick the orbital platforms into targeting their own power supply, Kira agrees to the plan with a quick nod. Chief O'Brien, the person who would need to act on her orders, was not looking at her at the time. She should have given a verbal command, or at the very least made sure the person she was giving the non-verbal command to could see it.
Jadzia enters the Bajoran shrine to pay her respects to the Prophets. She is wear her type II phaser at her waist while inside the shrine. As the Bajoran religion is a peaceful religion, it would be disrespectful to carry weapons inside the shrine.
During an argument, Martok refers to one of the Romulans as a "p'tah." The insult he was looking for was "petaQ" (alternately spelled "Pahtak", "Pathak", "p'tahk", "p'takh", "patahk", "pahtk", "p'tak", or "p'taq"), a common Klingon slur. He left the "k" sound off the end of the word.
