Daphne Ashbrook and Alexander Siddig in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993)

Goofs

Melora

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Edit

Factual errors

Dr. Bashir says this is the first time he's ever experienced zero gravity. There is no way a Star Fleet officer would not have zero-G training.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

Species that grow in low gravity planets would be taller than Melora is depicted. Reduced gravity causes the fluid between vertebrae to expand assuming this is case for Melora's species. It has been reported that astronauts grow about two inches when they are in space. However, Melora is not human and the first of her kind to be seen on screen, so there is no reference for how short or tall her species should be. A two-inch difference is not very significant; perhaps Melora is two inches taller than she would otherwise be, or perhaps she has already shrunk from spending so much time away from her planet.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

Near the end when Quark says "I think we have the situation in hand commander" his lips do not match the words.

Boom mic visible

When Jadzia and Melora are on the Runabout, a boom mic drops into the shot from behind set framing in one shot over Melora.

Character error

During the cold open when Fallit Kot confronts Quark at the bar, the terrified Quark attempts to pacify Kot by engaging him in friendly small talk while pouring him a drink. Just before the scene ends, Kot raises the drink as though he intends to drink from it. However, his species would not be able to drink from a typical drinking glass as they have a length of flesh connecting the bridge of their nose to their chin. Without a straw or similar utensil, it would be impossible to consume liquid from a standard cup.
