The medal which Korsakov hands over is not the Soviet Order of the Red Banner, which was not a gold coin-shaped medal. The Order consisted of a white-enamelled badge, and had a golden Hammer and Sickle on a Red Star, backed by crossed hammer, plough, torch, and a red flag bearing the motto "Proletarians [Workers] of the World, Unite!". The whole was surrounded by two golden panicles of wheat; at the bottom were the Cyrillic letters "CCCP". It was cut to the shape of the wheat, the ends of the flag staves and the flag itself, not a simple circle.
