This episode takes place on a Sunday, yet one of the people SpongeBob says hi to is a mailman, who would not be out in uniform on Sunday.
In the correct version of "Something Smells" that aired on American television, SpongeBob approaches a building and says, "Hi, building!", and the building scoots away because of his bad breath. But on the DVD version and on YTV broadcasts in Canada, SpongeBob says "I just don't get it!" and Patrick says "I don't either", which is an audio glitch, as the same lines are repeated in the correct context only a few seconds later. Oddly enough, the closed captioning still reads, "Hi, building" on the DVD version.
