This episode was aired only six days after the death of Mary Kay Bergman, who was the original voice behind every female character on the show. She tragically committed suicide on November 11th, 1999. This episode included an "In Loving Memory" credit during its initial run, but the credit has since been removed. Most likely during the "HD Project" when every episode was Re-Rendered in High Definition.

This is the first time that the show did a cold open with no credits. On the DVD commentary, Trey Parker and Matt Stone refer to this as the first episode of Starvin' Marvin in Space instead of a South Park (1997) episode.

When the CIA come for the four boys, Cartman claims Kyle "went number two in the urinal". Going "number two" in a urinal is later a major part of the plot for Mystery of the Urinal Deuce (2006).
