Disappointing third ep of season 7: Dr Ryan acting irrationally
msghall13 May 2021
Belying everything we have known about Sam Ryan over six seasons, this episode, even more than the first two, shows the lead character as uncharacteristically sloppy, acting in ways she would never have done throughout the series so far, merely to fit the plot. Lazy scripting is the culprit where too many convenient lapses from the doctor. The plot is fine as it is but doesn't need Ryan to suddenly act irrationally.

Fantastic.

The deaths of two brothers in a Prison Cell causes a divide among the team, Sam insisting it was suicide, Leo convinced the pair were murdered by Police Officers, the pair have to give evidence in a high profile trial.

It's a fabulous episode, it's deep and engaging, and we have a bit of needle between Sam and Leo, the interest comes from finding out which ones right, is it possible for Doctor Ryan to have gotten something wrong?

There's a lot going on, so many different strands, the recent deaths, the trial, and Annabelle Apsion's mystery character.

Cal Macaninch is excellent as the recently released man, he's very sinister.

Engaging, one of the best, 10/10.

Sam Is In the Gunsight
Hitchcoc6 March 2019
Sam is seen as unyielding and stubborn. In a couple instances here, she can't admit to making simple mistakes. Obviously, she documents everything as she pursues conclusions, but if she makes even a slight error in day to day life, she can't accept that. Vulnerability of any kind causes dread. In this episode, a man who should not have been sent to prison blames Sam and is playing mind games with her. Excellent setup for part two.

Leo turns into a massive jerk?

Warning: Spoilers
What on earth is going on with Leo and Sam? I've never much liked the superior snottiness of a perfectionist who appears to look down on literally every other character. But Leo in this episode makes Sam look like a mild, sweet, easygoing angel.

The way Leo talks to Sam is completely at odds with his over-respect for her in every episode before this one. I would only expect to see this kind of obnoxiously insulting behavior if they'd had an affair and she'd broken it off... but they didn't, as far as I know.

I see he's not leaving the show, so I'm baffled. Why would they make yet another character utterly hateful? Very strange choice. I keep crossing my fingers that Leo will be the next victim, even though I know he's not gonna anywhere.

This kind of writing is what causes me to stop watching shows.
