Not alone in the dark
unbrokenmetal24 March 2014
Sheena discovers a bracelet in the jungle, a little piece of silver she was given as a child by her lost parents. She starts searching the area for any other remains, maybe she might discover even their bodies (or rather, skeletons) which are supposed to be in a cave. Kali thinks Cutter should accompany Sheena, so she doesn't get too depressed with the sad memories that will doubtless return to her. However, as there are earthquake warnings on the radio, it is a very bad time to enter caves. Promptly, Cutter and Sheena are locked in by falling boulders – and they are not alone in the dark...

A classic claustrophobia situation that makes good use of flashbacks to Sheena's childhood, even if it's a sad story.

It's OK

Not much to this one, really, because it doesn't stand up to too much thought. A situation gets set up, things happen, and it eventually ends. In between, earthquakes are constantly happening to create some sense of danger/drama, which is fine if you don't ask "Why don't they wait til the earthquakes are over?" or even "Why aren't there earthquakes any other time?"

That's this episode all throughout: things happen just as and when the plot needs them, and our characters move on. Not that they don't try to make it better than that, but overall a very paint-by-numbers episode.

Reasons to watch:
  • does add significant backstory details for Sheena
  • Gina Lee is improving in portraying Sheena's character
