Are we in an episode of on The Buses?....
....If only, that was at least funny.
Myrtle has joined a creative writing course, and after 11 weeks, the time has arrived for her to perform on stage.
I can remember watching about ten minutes of episode one, and switching it off when it first went out, my first thoughts were right, it's been a struggle.
I've made it through to that final episode, and unfortunate it's another clunker, I've actually been watching On The Buses for the first time, and was the intention with this show to make a similar comedy, the trouble is 2004 was not 1970, times had changed so much.
Dad jokes, stale one liners, it just didn't work on any level. Sadly I think when this show ended, so did all memory of it.
Two things stood out, firstly Myrtle's reading, Berrington is an awesome actress, and was badly wasted on this show, secondly, Frank's Blakey impression, absolutely spot on, and super funny, finally we get a chance to see how good an actor Frank Skinner is.
I did enjoy hearing The On the buses theme music, it served as a reminder of an actual comedy series.
4/10.
