- Carrie has overslept and rushes like crazy though bogged-down traffic, for she has the honor to open Wall Street by ringing the bell, and has her first 'official' date with Jack Berger, but takes the girls' advice to date simultaneously, notably graphic designer Applegate, a disaster. Miranda finally admits being in love with Steve, baby Brady's father. Charlotte tests Harry's determination not to marry a non-Jew, but even sex fails. Samantha is happy in her sexy neighborhood, where a Pottery Barn looks more out of place than SM leather, and notices the incredibly attractive Wall Street yuppie Chip Kil-Kinney moving in at her building; when she welcomes him with a kinky gift basket, he accepts her dare to drop his towel to take it; they have hot sex and he gives her a hot stock tip. - New York Star paper goes public, and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) rings the bell at the NYSE, as she is a famous columnist for the paper. Jack asks Carrie out on a date. While nervously anticipating her first date with Berger (Ron Livingston). Carrie goes for a simulation-date with designer Willy Applegate (Wallace Langham), to take the edge off the date with Jack. The date goes disastrous for Willy. It was Willy's first date, and he was nervous. He had a Sty and felt that Carrie was staring at his face. Then a pigeon flew in and sat on his head. He accidentally puts some balsamic vinegar in his eye and he falls off his chair, when the pigeon returns to sit on his shoulder and he tries to shoo it off. Now Carrie is even more nervous for her date with Jake.
Carrie runs into Aidan (John Corbett) for the first time since their breakup, and is surprised by how far he's moved on. Aidan has a baby and just like that Carrie is not nervous anymore.
Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) realizes she's in love with Steve (David Eigenberg). She talks to Carrie and is ready to take their relationship to next level. Miranda asks Steve out on a date to discuss how he feels about her, only to hear he has a new girlfriend. Miranda takes Steve out for dinner and that's when Steve tells her.
Charlotte (Kristin Davis) struggles with Harry's (Evan Handler) assertion that he can only marry Hebrew. Harry says he is not kosher, so he can order pork against the beliefs of his religion. But it bugs Charlotte that Harry has such conservative views when it comes to marriage. Harry worships Charlotte and says he never thought a goddess like her would fall for him and hence he took things this far. Harry had promised his mother that he would marry a Hebrew, but she is dead now. Charlotte has been wary of mothers ever since the episode with Trey (Kyle MacLachlan) and his mother Bunny (Frances Sternhagen). Charlotte is relieved to hear that Harry's mother is dead and she likes him even more.
Harry does want kids (and wants to raise them in his religious beliefs) and Charlotte loves kids but tells Harry that she might not be able to have kids. Harry loves her regardless. Harry says that they could consider adoption, and Charlotte is touched by his humor, compassion and acceptance. She considers converting to Hebrew religion for Harry. Charlotte is inspired that Elizabeth Taylor also changed her religion for Eddie Fisher.
Samantha (Kim Cattrall) sleeps with a stockbroker Chip Kilkenny (Victor Webster) who gives insider tips while inside her. Chip drives a Hummer, and has recently moved into Samantha's building, in an apartment right about hers. Samantha goes to give him a welcome basket and ends up giving him a blow-job instead. Chip tells Samantha to buy Elan Pharmaceuticals, which he believes is going to go through the roof. Chip is arrested by the FBI for insider trading, while Samantha was on top of him having sex. Turns out Chip had been sharing stock tips with every woman he ever slept with.
