Summaries

  • Carrie hears Big is in New York to get a 'routine' heart operation and fears for his life; sharing his convalescence makes them close again, but not for long. Miranda is getting on with her neighbor and boyfriend Dr. Robert Leeds, enough to take her first true day off work ever to spend in bed with him.—KGF Vissers

Synopsis

  • Carrie shows strange signs of distress when Big needs heart surgery. Carrie sobs uncontrollably when Big reveals that he needs an angioplasty as there is a slight blockage in his arteries.

Big gets the procedure done and Carrie visits him in the hospital. The uncontrollable sobs continue. But she reacts sharply when the nurse thinks she is married to Big. Carrie's tears evaporate instantly, and she corrects the nurse that Big is not her husband.

Carrie goes to Big's hotel to play dominoes with him when he is released from hospital. Big subtly indicates he wants to grow old with Carrie, but she doesn't catch the hint. Big opens up and tells Carrie that life is too short and asks what they are doing by ignoring each other. Carrie won't respond immediately, and by the next morning his heart is closed again.

Miranda gets close to her new boyfriend Robert (who has access to her apartment and even cooks for her) but is reluctant to introduce him to Steve. Robert asks Miranda to take a day off so they can spend time together as Brady will be with Steve. But one day Steve walks in on Miranda and Robert having sweet sex. Miranda is proud to show off Robert to Steve. Steve was shocked at running into Miranda having sex and breaks his nose during the botched getaway. Robert has to attend to the injury. Samantha tells Miranda that she clearly won the relationship contest.

Steve gets back at Miranda by showing off his hot girlfriend Debbie (Eleni Fuaixis) to Miranda. Debbie is a total knockout and Miranda trips and falls the first time she is introduced to her. Steve is embarrassed when Debbie reveals that Steve is a Knicks fan and Robert offers him court-side seats (since he is the team doctor), which Steve won't accept out of pride. The next morning Steve comes to drop Brady, and wants to say something to Miranda, but holds himself as Robert is in Miranda's apartment.

Reproductively challenged Charlotte tries acupuncture in order to get pregnant. One day at lunch, she runs into Bitsy Von Muffling, who is pregnant. Bitsy was married to a previously gay entertainer. She attributes the pregnancy to her acupuncturist Dr Mao (Hoon Lee). Plus, Bitsy is 50 years old. Charlotte books an appointment, and the waiting room of the doctor is full of stories of how women who had given up all hope of having kids, ended up being pregnant after coming to Mao's clinic. Charlotte starts her treatment but can't find her inner peace. Mao advises Charlotte to block out the noise from the city and focus on her inner voice. Gradually, Charlotte learns to block all the negative talk around her, and to focus on her inner positive voice.

Samantha refuses to hold hands with Smith. Jerry Smith continues to have sex with Samantha in between his movie shoots. Later, on walks, he wants to hold hands with Samantha, who doesn't. Samantha is happy to be treated like a fragile old lady who needs be held. Samantha falls into a curb side basement entry and sprains her leg and reluctantly agrees to hold hands with Jerry till her leg heals.
