Summaries

  • An accident under the Arctic circle with a Russian sub, causes Plutonium to leak into the ballasts, but a mutiny forces the sub up, spreading radioactive material into the air. Parker must Backstep to stop the terrible event from happening.

Synopsis

  • A Russian submarine tests a new device under the northern (arctic) ice cap. However, the political officer aboard the boat is much more worried about being spied upon by 'enemy ships' and orders the sonar operator to watch for them, instead of performing the more important routine of watching for submerged ice floes and the proximity of the boat to the ice above them. When the submarine strikes the ice causing lethal damage to the boat, damage which will cause pollution to the Earth's atmosphere should they surface, the political officer takes command by force and many of the boat's crew 'mutiny' against the captain. During the takeover the sonar operator is killed providing a scapegoat on whom to lay the blame for the accident. Eventually the boat surfaces and radiation is leaked into the atmosphere. When it spreads across the northern hemisphere and the US learns of the disaster, contamination is confirmed and a 'backstep' is authorised.

Frank B. Parker's mission is to stop the submarine from surfacing and leaking the radiation. The catches are that 8 days have passed, but luckily only since the ice crash occurred, and the boat is 300 meters underwater. So Frank must backstep with the sphere 'landing' underwater close enough to the sub for him to be able to board the sub underwater. Needing to board the boat underwater at such a depth necessitates that he learn how to use a new scuba system and cope with breathing a liquified oxygen element instead of a gas. Normal communications with 'Never Never Land' is also not possible due so Frank also needs to learn the use of a texting device attached to his forearm in order to send messages to the 'backstep' HQ. Needless to say, Frank successfully boards the submarine. However, this time when the political officer attempts to force the captain to bring the boat to the surface, he fails.

Sci Fi Channel should pick this show up and make new episodes of it, everyone likes time travel shows and this is one of the best out there!
